A strong education in international transport and logistics
Becoming a trainee at Blue Water will boost your career and development by providing you with the tools and training to become an expert in the industry engaged in a team of professional colleagues.
The participants in the 2-year trainee programme come from Blue Water's global offices around the world. This means that you will be hired at a Blue Water location, while doing the programme and courses with trainees from other locations.
About the programme:
- Trainees meet different areas of work and business challenges during the two years
- Courses and teaching resources are in English
- Training modules are held as combination of physical and online training. The physical modules (a total of 5 weeks) are held at Blue Water's headquarters in Esbjerg, Denmark.
The theoretical courses involve:
- Road, Sea, Air and Rail transport
- Multimodal and Project transports
- Customs formalities
- Terminal and Warehousing
- International Transport law
- Logistics and Supply Chain Management
- Business process optimisation
- Economics and Service
The programme will allow you to connect solid practical experience given in your daily work with theoretical knowledge.

What do you need to become a trainee at Blue Water?
To qualify as a trainee at Blue Water, you must:
- have completed secondary school, high school or an equivalent qualification
- be proficient in English

If you don't have a high school diploma, you will not be able to join our trainee programme. The education corresponds to a short higher education, which always requires a high school background as an admission requirement.

The seven school weeks are held over the two years with 1 to 2 weeks of school at a time. It will be a mix of physical presence and online teaching.
The school is held in collaboration with Smart Academy in Esbjerg, Denmark. For sessions with physical presence, you will be traveling to Esbjerg and live at the school during the weeks of teaching.
You must be able to read, write and speak English. All teaching resources and the teaching itself will be in English.
9 out of 10 stay with Blue Water after completing the programme. We employ our trainees on a permanent basis. For the first two years you are a trainee and after that you are a freight forwarder. It is not a fixed-term contract.
It is a day in front of the computer and with the phone at hand. You will be booking transport for customers, following up, invoicing and contacting customers and suppliers.
