Successful electric Reefer Road trailer trial

The trial involved transporting fish products from Denmark to various destinations across Europe

Blue Water’s Reefer Road team has successfully executed a three-month trial with our own electric reefer trailer. This trial involved transporting fish products from Denmark to various destinations across Europe, including the Benelux region, France and Germany, as well as importing fruit and vegetables back to Denmark.

This initiative aligns with our mission to become a more sustainable player in the transport industry. The trial reflects our commitment to addressing the significant carbon emissions generated by our sector. As a leading player in logistics, we recognise our central role in tackling the challenge of reducing emissions.

“For us, the key was to ensure that our usual standards of temperature-controlled fish export were maintained,” says Director Reefer Logistics Road, Rene Busekist Ohlsen. “We received positive feedback regarding both the sustainability advantages and the experience from our drivers.”

Having completed a successful trial period, Blue Water is now looking into expanding the use of electric reefer trailers in the near future, aiming to develop a more sustainable Reefer Road fleet. This initiative is part of Blue Water’s ongoing effort to reduce our environmental impact and provide more sustainable logistics solutions within the supply chains we manage.

Greener reefer logistics at Padborg terminal

Another important step in providing more sustainable logistics solutions within our Reefer Road supply chain is demonstrated at our reefer terminal in Padborg, Denmark. Here, we have switched from using diesel to electricity to cool down reefer trailers.
