Port Agency team handles largest FPSO call in Frederikshavn
The team coordinated the arrival of the 390-metre Floating Production Storage and Offloading vessel Fluminense
Blue Water’s Port Agency team in Frederikshavn, Denmark, has demonstrated its expertise by managing the largest vessel ever to call at the port - the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel Fluminense. The 390-metre vessel, which arrived from Brazil, required the assistance of eight tugs to safely enter the port.
The arrival of Fluminense was a complex operation. "At the Port of Frederikshavn we have experience in handling complex port operations as for example the arrival of the Zafiro Producer in June 2023 and now the even larger Flumeninse. Our local team is used to servicing all involved stakeholders and has the experience and skills needed to manage such large projects," says Mathias Søndergaard, Manager Port Agency at Blue Water.
To help bring the Fluminense to port, Blue Water's local team coordinated with Boskalis Offshore Energy, who requested the vessel to be transported to Frederikshavn after 21 years of service. The team managed a wide range of tasks including crew change, provisioning and clearance of the many tugs involved. Helicopter services were also arranged as marine pilots, riggers and other personnel needed to be flown to the vessel to facilitate the port call.
"At Blue Water, we think about every detail of the port call and ensure smooth coordination not only of the vessel's arrival, but also of everything around it, from clearance to personnel support. With our services we aim to make complex operations as seamless as possible,” adds Søndergaard.
