Celebrating a decade of Blue Water Vietnam
The milestone was celebrated with a donation to a community-based tourism cooperative on the island of Thieng Lieng
Blue Water Vietnam recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary with a memorable two-day team-building trip on the island of Thieng Lieng. This milestone held special significance not only for the office as a whole, but also for a noteworthy group of employees. Five out of ten dedicated employees celebrated their 10-year anniversary with Blue Water.
Situated in Ho Chi Minh City, the office consists out of a team of local experts who specialise primarily in general cargo transport. However, over the years, the scope of work of the office has expanded considerably. “We have diversified our services to supply Aid & Development Logistics, Reefer Logistics, provide the growing Cruise & Marine industry, as well as offer project transport and logistics and handle transit cargo across neighbouring countries. Over the past ten years, we have greatly developed ourselves, accompanied and supported by our global team,” adds Thi My Le Le, General Manager Blue Water Vietnam.
Local donation
The trip to Thieng Lieng Island not only served team building, it was also a commitment to corporate social responsibility. Blue Water has always been dedicated to supporting local communities, and it has become a tradition that when one of our offices celebrates a significant milestone, the office gets to donate to a local charity project of their choice on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation.
In honor of the 10th-year anniversary, the Ho Chi Minh team decided to donate to a Thieng Lieng community-based tourism cooperative. This cooperative started to bring an additional source of income to the Thieng Lieng salt-farming community, contributing to improving the quality of life of the people. The island is facing many difficulties due to the dependence on the traditional occupation of salt making, which is highly influenced by the changing climate. Many families on the island live in challenging conditions with temporary housing, a lack of electricity and clean water as well as poor medical conditions.
This donation will help to contribute to the development of tourism products and services with local cultural characteristics. Moreover, the funds will be used to acquire essential kitchen utensils, tables and chairs to provide a start to households that lack the means to invest in tourism projects.
