Blue Water Games strengthen team spirit and give back locally
Blue Water Games celebrate the company's culture and values
At this year's Blue Water Games, held on 14 September, Blue Water demonstrated its commitment to teamwork, community and corporate responsibility. The annual event, which celebrates the company's birthday and values, was joined by 1,500 colleagues from 80 offices in locations around the world for a day of fun, togetherness and giving back to local communities.
CEO of Blue Water, Søren Nørgaard Thomsen, emphasises the importance of the Blue Water Games to the company's strong team spirit: "The Blue Water Games are not just about having fun - they are an important way to strengthen team spirit and teamwork between our global offices. We believe that the stronger the bonds between our people, the better the service and quality we can deliver to our customers.”
Each year, one of Blue Water's regions is chosen as the host for the Blue Water Games, welcoming regional colleagues to a central location, while all others celebrate locally at their respective offices. This year, region Americas met in Miami, bringing together 230 colleagues from 8 different countries.
Anne Skov, Chairman of the Blue Water Foundation, expresses her pride in the event and its impact on both employees and communities: "The Blue Water Games embrace our values and bring us together as a global team. It is a unique event that unites us as a company across borders, and a day where we experience the culture that defines Blue Water."
Local donations
Around the world, the Blue Water Games were tailored to local conditions, but a key element across all locations was 'The Pan American Quest', an online escape room game that allowed all worldwide Blue Water employees to engage in friendly competition no matter where they were located. Blue Water's Shanghai team was the winner of the global competition and was awarded the opportunity to donate DKK 250,000 to a charity of their choice on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation. The local team has decided to support the China Charity Federation (CCF), a national non-profit organisation that provides vital assistance to people in need throughout China.
In addition to the grand prize, new charity initiatives related to the regional games were introduced this year. The host region winners, Team Sao Paulo, will donate DKK 100,000 to OncoAmigo - Aqui o amor faz a diferença, a Brazilian organisation that provides compassionate support to cancer patients and their families. In addition, as a gesture of gratitude to the host city of Miami, DKK 100,000 will be donated to the Miami Lighthouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, Inc, an organisation that empowers people with visual impairments.
"It's important for us not only to strengthen our culture and connections internally but also to give back to the communities that support us. I'm proud of our teams and for nominating these meaningful causes," adds Anne Skov on the importance of the local donations.
