Blue Water Frederikshavn marks 10-year anniversary

The special anniversary was celebrated with a charity donation to Barnets Blå Hus

Blue Water Frederikshavn recently celebrated its 10-year anniversary. The office, located in the strategically important harbour city in Northern Denmark, opened ten years ago to serve local clients in line with Blue Water’s Best in Town strategy. Now, ten years later, Blue Water is a preferred logistics partner, specialised in freight forwarding for the maritime sector and port agency services at the Port of Frederikshavn.

The team of seven employees, headed by Manager Department Nicolai Sørensen, serves a strong client base with many local customers. “We handle all modes of transport for our customers, providing them with a single point of contact. This makes it easy for them to do business with us and we provide them with the best possible service,” says Sørensen.

The office has played a crucial role in some of the most significant projects at Port Frederikshavn. They have been appointed as agents for some of the largest port calls ever in Frederikshavn, when they assist the PFSO’s and rigs arriving for decommissioning. The team also provided comprehensive support during the transformation of the oil rig Maersk Guardian into an accommodation rig. “These projects show our wide range of skills in port agency services, heavy lift operations and chartering operations. We work closely with our teams abroad to ensure complete transport to the final destination,” adds Mathias Søndergaard, Manager Port Agency.

DFDS terminal

Blue Water Frederikshavn also services the DFDS terminal, located only 700 meters from the office. Beyond loading and unloading cargo, the team of 15 (based on the season) also manages the check-in of passengers, cars and trucks, cargo handling and line handling for the two ferries – Pearl Seaways and Crown Seaways – operating at the terminal. On average, six thousand guests are managed in a month, and during high season, the number of guests doubles to almost 12,000.

Over the course of the partnership, the logistics responsibilities have developed. Blue Water’s operation started with two small sheds and a few trucks, but DFDS soon showed confidence in Blue Water’s capabilities. Now, Blue Water also provides staff at the freight office in the customs building to manage the logistics for a large number of trucks, cars and passengers, as well as loose freight and paperwork.

Local donation to Barnets Blå Hus

To celebrate their 10th anniversary, Blue Water Frederikshavn donated 10,000 DKK to support Barnets Blå Hus Frederikshavn on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation. This charity helps children and young people from homes with substance abuse problems.

Local anniversary donation

Blue Water has always been dedicated to supporting local communities, and it has become a tradition that when one of our offices celebrates a significant milestone, the office gets to donate to a local charity project of their choice on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation.
