Blue Water Aberdeen partners with Charlie House
In addition to a generous anniversary donation, the office will be the charity's corporate partner for 2024
In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Blue Water Aberdeen, the office donated 25,000 DKK to support Charlie House on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation. Charlie House is a local Aberdeen-based charity that provides practical and emotional support to children and their families in Northeast Scotland. The charity is building a dedicated support centre in Aberdeen, so families no longer need to travel outside the region to get the specialist support and care they need.
The Aberdeen team decided on Charlie House as their charity of choice as one of the team members has a close connection with the charity in his personal life.
“It is a great chance to help a local charity whose services are desperately needed in the Aberdeen area. We fully support their plan to increase their facilities and provide much-needed assistance to families,” says Stewart Greig, Aberdeen Office Manager.
New children's centre to be built
Charlie House started the journey back in 2018 to build a purpose-built facility to care for children with life-limiting, or life-threatening conditions. The cost of this was £8 million, of which they still need £3 million to fund it fully. “With our donation on behalf of the Blue Water Foundation, we have bought a brick in this new building – and hopefully, with our focus and commitment through 2024, we can add another brick or two and make a small impact to a fantastic cause,” shares Greig.
Aside from the donation on Blue Water Aberdeen’s 25th anniversary, the team decided to go one step further and become the corporate partner of Charlie House. This is to support social responsibilities and local impact in the coming year together. “We feel it is right to give back to the community some of our time; this can be a few hours up to a full fund-raising event,” adds Greig.
The Charlie House team is incredibly grateful to have received this support. “We are excited about the opportunity to work closely with the team, receive their support for fundraising events and exploring potential volunteering opportunities together. Their generous support for the coming year will mean so much, helping us raise further awareness of Charlie House and the need for a respite centre in the Northeast of Scotland,” says Alethea Williams, Corporate Fundraising Coordinator.
