Long-term and trusting partnership between Faerch and Blue Water adds value to the transport solutions

Faerch, a leading innovator in food packaging founded in Denmark, and Blue Water, a trusted provider of logistics solutions, are celebrating 30 years of successful collaboration this month. In a competitive and ever-evolving industry, long-term partnerships such as the one between Faerch and Blue Water are rare. Since 1994, the two companies have grown together, adapting to new market and customer demands and expanding into new regions.

Over the past three decades, Faerch has grown to become a leading player within circular food packaging, expanding its reach globally. Blue Water has been there every step of the way, tailoring transport solutions to support Faerch’s ambitions and growing alongside them to meet new challenges.

From 250 pallets weekly to 250,000 pallets yearly

In the 1990s, Faerch experienced a significant increase in exports to the UK. To meet the growing demand, Blue Water stepped up as their trusted road transport provider. Over the years, as Faerch expanded its operations in the UK, opening three production facilities to increase customer proximity and speed of service, Blue Water's Manchester team ensured a seamless transport operation. Today, Blue Water handles over 250,000 pallets a year for Faerch, alone from Denmark to the UK and within the UK.

The partnership has also expanded beyond the UK, with Blue Water supporting Faerch's growth in key European markets such as the Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic and Spain. This expansion has led to the opening of new offices and tailored solutions, further strengthening the partnership. For more than a decade, Blue Water has even stationed dedicated logistics experts at Faerch's headquarters in Holstebro, underlining the deep trust and integration between the two companies.

This commitment has also been demonstrated as Blue Water in 2007 opened an extra warehouse at the Port of Esbjerg, wherefrom exports to the UK were shipped. This was done to secure an even shorter transit time, if any express orders occurred. This move enabled Faerch to store finished products in Denmark, with Blue Water's staff integrating with Faerch's IT systems for real-time inventory management - an innovative solution at the time.

Sustainability is now a core focus for Faerch, particularly in ensuring a responsible value chain in its packaging production. Faerch has high standards for environmental responsibility and hygiene, and Blue Water continues to align with these values and develop solutions that meet these expectations.
